Striking commentary on Devlet Bahçeli from Fatih Altaylı: 'If he wasn't throwing that rope so Öcalan could escape from prison...'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı commented on the call regarding Öcalan by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, which dropped like a bombshell on Turkish politics.

"I was expecting this, but not from Devlet Bey. I expected it to be said by expendable bureaucrats first," said Altaylı. "I thought that on the Kurdish issue, first the military and then the MHP would say something, and the fringes outside would support it.

"I thought this solution would be brought forward first by the TSK and then by the party representing nationalism.

I didn't think Bahçeli would make the first move," he stated.

Asking what the reason for the panic is that pushed the government to take such a risk on this issue, Altaylı continued his words as follows:

"If Devlet Bahçeli said 'let Öcalan be released,' if someone heard this dream, if he were married, his wife would wake him up and say, 'Sir, are you aware of what you are saying?'

HE REMINDED HIM OF THE ROPE HE THREW AT ÖCALAN

Then we have the right to ask Devlet Bahçeli this: It has been 25-26 years, what happened and what changed? He used to throw a rope. Unless he was throwing that rope so Öcalan could use it to escape from prison, he was just throwing a rope.

He was accusing other parties of 'getting DEM-ed' (associating with the DEM Party). What happened yesterday and today? What happened in the meantime?

Bahçeli has a debt to explain this. What happened, what changed?

This feels like a panic statement to me, and it is to prevent things that are happening.

Was this done to block Ekrem İmamoğlu? If it is a new plan, it is very strange.

In any case, Bahçeli must tell the soldiers who support him, who have martyrs in their families, and who put the three crescents on the grips of their pistols, 'You died, but at the point we have reached, I said let Öcalan be released for these reasons.'"
