Flood disaster in Spain! Death toll rises to 205

The Operational Control Center in the autonomous region of Valencia, in the east of the country, which suffered the greatest damage from the flood disaster in Spain, reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the region due to floods and inundations has risen to 202.

While the death toll in Castilla-La Mancha, another region affected by the flood disaster, was announced as 3, the number of people who lost their lives across Spain has reached 205.

Authorities are concerned that the death toll will rise as there are still many missing persons.

The Ministry of Defense also announced that 1,064 soldiers are currently involved in search and rescue operations in the disaster area and that there is a very large number of missing persons.

In Valencia, more than 150 roads remain closed to traffic, Madrid-Valencia train services have been suspended for at least 15 days, and nearly 100,000 people are without electricity in a region facing security, water, and food supply issues.

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) had announced that the rainfall, which it described as the "worst period of the century" in the Valencia region, had fallen in an unprecedented manner, stating that "The amount of rain that normally falls in 1 year fell in just 8 hours."

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also went to Valencia today and stated that all state resources have been mobilized, that their priority is search and rescue operations, and that they are asking the public not to let their guard down as adverse weather conditions continue in some areas.
