2025 minimum wage forecast from former CBRT Chief Economist Hakan Kara: Here is the new figure!
Former Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Chief Economist Hakan Kara has shared his forecasts regarding the minimum wage to be implemented in 2025.
Former Central Bank Chief Economist and Bilkent University faculty member Prof. Dr. Ali Hakan Kara has announced the base wage for the salary increase negotiations for 2025, which will begin in December.
In a post on his social media account, Kara published a comparison between the hunger threshold and the minimum wage, stating that the 2025 minimum wage negotiations could start from this threshold.
HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?
With a short time left until 2025, the minimum wage increase, which is eagerly awaited by millions of employees and the public, remains on the agenda.
The new minimum wage, which directly affects approximately 7 million people and indirectly concerns the entire society, will be finalized with the meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission in December.
If a 30 percent raise is applied, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 102 liras. If a 35 percent raise is applied, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 502 liras.
WHEN IS THE 2025 MINIMUM WAGE MEETING?
Minister Işıkhan answered questions from members of the press following the Cabinet meeting at Beştepe.
Regarding the minimum wage that will be valid starting from 2025, Işıkhan said, “We will conduct the process just like last year. We will come together with the parties in the first or second week of December. We are ready; we will announce the process once the minimum wage calendar is determined.”
HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE AT WHAT PERCENTAGE INCREASE IN 2025?
While different scenarios are being discussed regarding minimum wage increase forecasts, the rate at which negotiations for the new minimum wage will begin is also becoming clearer. Based on public expectations, it is anticipated that negotiations will start with a demand for a minimum increase of 25-35 percent.
According to the probable scenarios regarding the minimum wage, the wages will take shape as follows:
“If a 20 percent raise is applied, the minimum wage will be 20 thousand 402 liras.
If a 25 percent raise is applied, the minimum wage will be 21 thousand 252 liras.
If a 40 percent raise is applied, the minimum wage will be 23 thousand 802 liras.”
