2025 traffic fines announced: Heavy penalties for running red lights and using mobile phones

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), which has drawn public reaction with the data it releases, has calculated the revaluation rate.
Accordingly, the rate of increase applied to taxes, fees, and fines starting from the beginning of the year will be 43.93 percent.
With the determination of the revaluation rate, there will be an increase of approximately 50 percent in traffic fines in 2025.
HOW MUCH IS THE FINE FOR NOT WEARING A SEATBELT?
The fine for those who do not wear seatbelts in traffic will rise from 691 TL to 995 liras.
HOW MUCH ARE THE FINES FOR RUNNING A RED LIGHT, SPEEDING, AND TALKING ON THE PHONE?
Fines for running a red light, exceeding the speed limit by 10-30 percent, and talking on the phone will increase from 1,507 liras to 2,169 liras.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
The lowest fine for driving under the influence will be 9,269 liras.
On the other hand, following the increase to be applied to the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), the tax for the cheapest 1.3 engine car in the 1-3 age group will rise from 3,360 liras to 4,836 liras, while the tax for the cheapest 1.6 engine car will be 8,421 liras.
