29 people lost their lives in the fire in Gayrettepe, Istanbul: Here is the latest state of the scene
According to initial findings, a fire broke out due to renovations at the 'Masquerade' entertainment center, which operates on the -1 and -2 floors of a 16-story building located on Gündoğdu Street in the Gayrettepe neighborhood of Beşiktaş district.
Upon notification, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams had taken security measures in the surrounding area.
Firefighting crews intervened in the fire on the minus 1 and minus 2 floors of the building, which were used as a club, with 31 vehicles and 86 personnel.
Following a report, numerous fire and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. While the fire was extinguished through the intervention of the fire department, 29 people lost their lives in the incident. The treatment of 1 person who was taken to the hospital in critical condition is ongoing.
Search and rescue operations by teams in the building where the incident occurred have been concluded.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the incident.
New footage of the scene has emerged. There is no trace left of the site's former state at the location where the fire has been completely extinguished.
