By law, schools and government offices will be on a half-day holiday on Monday, October 28, starting in the afternoon. Since Tuesday, October 29 is a full-day holiday, civil servants, bank employees, and students will have had 1.5 days off.

OPPORTUNITY FOR EMPLOYEES TO TAKE 4 DAYS OFF

Employees who have the opportunity to use a half-day of 'annual leave' on Monday will be able to take a 4-day holiday if they use that half-day leave.

CELEBRATED AS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY SINCE 1925

On February 2, 1925, a legislative proposal prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggested that October 29 be a holiday. On April 19, the proposal was accepted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). With the "Law on Recognizing October 29, the Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic, as a National Holiday," the celebration of Republic Day on October 29 became an official provision.

The day the Republic was proclaimed has been celebrated as an official holiday within the country and at foreign missions since 1925.
