5 foods you should never wash!
Some foods generally have their own natural protective mechanisms. So, which foods should you keep away from water to avoid harming your health?
Potatoes
Potatoes are root vegetables that grow in the soil, and bacteria and dirt can be found on their outer surface. However, washing potatoes can increase the risk of them drying out and spoiling. Washed potatoes can spoil quickly due to moisture.
Avocado
The avocado's skin protects its interior. However, washing the avocado skin can cause nutrients to penetrate the peel and may compromise the quality of the fruit inside.
Mushrooms
Mushrooms generally prefer humid environments, and water carries the risk of damaging their texture. Washing mushrooms can cause them to absorb water and ruin their flavor.
Dried fruits
Washing dried fruits can lead to changes in taste and texture. Instead, it is best to store dried fruits in a clean and dry environment. Furthermore, the shelf life of washed dried fruits may decrease, which can lead to a loss of quality.
Eggs
Eggs are a food rich in protein and vitamins. However, washing eggs can damage the protective layer on their shell, which may allow bacteria to seep inside. The eggshell contains a natural barrier that provides protection against bacteria, and washing can remove this protective layer, thereby increasing the risk of contamination. For this reason, it is not recommended to wash eggs with cold water. Eggs should only be wiped with a clean, dry cloth before cooking.
