600 gold coins for medalists! How much did Yusuf Dikeç and Mete Gazoz earn?

The prize money for athletes who won medals for Turkey at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games held in Paris has been delivered.

According to a report by Sözcü, while no one was able to benefit this year from the award worth 1,000 republic gold coins given to athletes who win gold medals as required by regulation, athletes who won silver medals were given 600, and those who won bronze medals were given 300 republic gold coins.

The name that left its mark on the Olympic Games for Turkey was national shooter Yusuf Dikeç, who won a silver medal in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team category alongside Şevval İlayda Tarhan. While Dikeç's pose—characterized by his relaxed demeanor and lack of professional equipment, unlike other athletes—has been imitated by many athletes around the world, the Turkish Lira equivalent of the cash prize awarded to the 51-year-old athlete, who has become an icon, has been revealed.

With the distribution of the prize money earned at the Olympic Games, Yusuf Dikeç has become entitled to a cash award worth approximately 5.5 million Turkish Lira. Our national archer Mete Gazoz also became the recipient of gold equivalent to the same amount of prize money. While Turkey ranks among the top countries providing the highest cash rewards for Olympic medals, the country in first place is Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China awarded 25 million 422 thousand TL for a gold medal, 12 million 711 thousand TL for a silver medal, and 6 million 355 thousand TL for a bronze medal.
