A new era begins in second-hand car sales: Here are the details of the new practice

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced last week that they would be implementing a new practice for real estate and automotive listings. The details of the new practice have begun to emerge.

The regulation will closely affect individuals who deliver their second-hand vehicles to a dealership or authorized seller via what is known as 'consignment.' According to a report by Hürriyet, starting from October, those who wish to sell their second-hand vehicles will be required to comply with certain rules.

Those who wish to sell their vehicle through an authorized dealer will be required to submit a notification via e-Devlet. Accordingly, users will access the "my vehicles" section and select the vehicle they intend to sell.

Subsequently, the vehicle seller will authorize the relevant dealer by using the code they have used on classifieds websites.

Vehicle sellers will be able to upload information regarding the vehicle, such as price, mileage, and damage status, to the listing site once they have received authorization.

Listings from authorized sellers will initially appear as verified listings on online platforms. Until the end of December, both verified and regular listings will be available on the platforms.

As of January 2025, only verified listings will be featured on online platforms.
