German-born experienced coach Christoph Daum has passed away at the age of 70 due to lung cancer, which he had been battling for a long time. Daum achieved significant success in Turkish football.
German football manager Christoph Daum, who passed away at the age of 70 due to lung cancer, was born in Germany on October 24, 1953.
After playing for teams such as Hamborn, Duisburg, and Köln during his football career, he began his managerial career at Köln in the 1981-82 season.
Daum's managerial career continued with prominent clubs such as Stuttgart, Beşiktaş, Bayer Leverkusen, Fenerbahçe, Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge, Bursaspor, and the Romania national team.
He won championships in the German, Turkish, and Austrian leagues. He secured one league title with Beşiktaş and two with Fenerbahçe.
He left his mark on his career in Turkey with a total of 6 trophies, achieving successes such as the Turkish Cup and the Super Cup.
Most recently serving as the head coach of the Romanian national team during the 2016-17 season, Daum had been battling lung cancer for a long time.
He succumbed to this illness and passed away at the age of 70.

The German manager, whose career is filled with successes, experienced his greatest trauma at Fenerbahçe, where he lifted the championship trophy twice.
Daum, who led Fenerbahçe to back-to-back championships in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons, lost the title to Galatasaray on the final matchday of the 2006 season.
Daum, who returned to the yellow-navy team once again in the 2009-2010 season, lost the championship once more in the final week during the match played against Trabzonspor.
Evaluating his last two seasons with Fenerbahçe, Daum had given a statement saying, 'If Appiah could have scored that goal in 2006, and if we could have converted the 23 goal opportunities we had in 2010, I would have been the Emperor of Fenerbahçe.'
