Abdülkadir Selvi reveals: MIT is involved in the newborn gang investigation

Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi made remarkable statements regarding the newborn gang investigation. Selvi wrote that the gang's connections need to be investigated more deeply and that the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has also stepped in during this process. Selvi claimed that the investigation could potentially extend to international connections.

The report was made via CİMER. In Selvi's article, it was stated that the first report regarding the newborn gang was made to CİMER and that this report was forwarded to the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate on March 27, 2023.

It was stated that the Provincial Health Directorate conducted its own investigations and determined that the report was accurate. Following these developments, Deputy Provincial Health Director Malik Türkay Esin conveyed the situation to the then-Istanbul Provincial Health Director Kemal Memişoğlu.

Memişoğlu gave instructions for the incident to be investigated to the end, and the matter was brought to the judiciary.

According to the article, gang members were placed under technical surveillance as part of the investigation. As a result of wiretaps and the detection of their conversations, it was revealed who the gang consisted of and in which hospitals they operated.

Pointing out the importance of gathering evidence in such investigations, Selvi emphasized that deficiencies could lead to gang members escaping without receiving punishment.

Selvi stated that Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu took the reports seriously from the very beginning of the process and ensured the progress of the investigation.

Stating that the Minister made a great contribution to the exposure of the gang, Selvi used the expressions, “If Memişoğlu had neglected the investigation, his resignation could have been on the agenda.

However, he did the right thing and should be appreciated.” Selvi also argued that Minister Memişoğlu should inform Parliament and that the issue should not be used as a political tool.
