The occupancy rate of the dams supplying water to Istanbul, which has experienced a dry autumn, has fallen to 36.48 percent. According to İSKİ data, the occupancy rate at the Alibey Dam, which has seen its lowest water level in the last 10 years, has dropped to 7.41 percent.
When looking at the last 10 years of data for the Alibey Dam, taking October 8 as the reference date, the lowest occupancy rate was recorded in 2021 at 19.54 percent. The occupancy rate at the Alibey Dam, which was 24.76 percent on this day last year, has now hit its lowest level at 7.41 percent.
The current state of the dam, where most of the water has receded, was captured from the air. The footage once again reveals the alarming picture of drought in the area where the water has retreated.
With the receding waters, it was observed that the Mağlova Aqueduct and the Güzelce Aqueduct, both works of Mimar Sinan, have completely emerged. On the other hand, plastic waste such as carboys dumped into the dam, which has now dried up, has also been exposed.
