Amazon unveils the first AI robot that can feel touch! The robot closest to humans: Vulcan!

Amazon, one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms, has introduced “Vulcan,” a new robot developed to make warehouse operations smarter and safer.

Equipped with artificial intelligence, Vulcan stands out for its ability to possess a sense of touch in addition to visual perception. The company states that the robot is designed not for full automation, but to work in collaboration with existing employees.

IT CAN FEEL TOUCH

Amazon officials announced that Vulcan is the company's first robot capable of feeling touch. Able to make physical contact with objects thanks to force sensors, Vulcan can calculate how much force to apply based on the weight and resistance of the object it touches.

This allows for greater precision when placing products.

LEARNS FROM ITS MISTAKES

Trained with physical data such as touch and force feedback, Vulcan is also capable of learning from its own mistakes.

Currently in active use in Spokane, USA, and Hamburg, Germany, the robot has processed more than half a million orders to date.

NEEDS HUMAN ASSISTANCE

According to Amazon's data, Vulcan can handle approximately 75 percent of the product inventory in warehouses on its own. However, it seeks help from human employees for products it cannot lift or identify.

NEW ROBOTS WILL WORK IN AMAZON WAREHOUSES

Amazon, which has more than 750 thousand robots worldwide, also has an army of nearly one million warehouse employees. The company emphasizes that Vulcan was developed not to replace these employees, but to work alongside them.

The new generation robot is planned to be deployed in other Amazon warehouses in Europe and the US in the coming years.
