Ancelotti's 'competition' statement regarding Arda Güler: It is not easy for Arda to find a place in the starting 11
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti stated that Arda Güler has not been getting much playing time due to the competition within the team.
Ancelotti held a press conference ahead of their La Liga matchday 9 game against Villarreal at home tomorrow, where he answered questions from journalists.
Regarding a question about national football player Arda Güler, the Italian manager said, "It is not easy to find a place in the starting 11 for Arda, the competition is very high. He has started in two matches and is taking on a bigger role compared to last year."
Emphasizing that Real Madrid, which suffered its first defeat of the season away against Lille in the UEFA Champions League midweek, must refocus on playing good football, Ancelotti said, "Sometimes a good start to the season makes you feel invincible, but a defeat brings you face to face with reality."
"We are not far from where we want to be," said Ancelotti, who made the following assessment:
"We need to be concerned about our defensive intensity and ball circulation. If you react well, this defeat is a great opportunity."
The team did not want to lose because they gave their all at the end of the game, and we fought until the very end. I spoke with the players, and we agreed that we lacked ball possession and needed to make faster passes.
Also, intensity is required at the defensive level. We are on the right path and we are stronger than ever."
