IMPORTANT CLUES ABOUT SCREEN RESOLUTION

A system file included in the iOS 18.6 beta software has provided important clues about the device's screen resolution. The expression "~home" found in this file named "apple-logo-1088@2x~home.png" reveals that the asset belongs to the homeOS platform, which Apple uses only for internal testing.

The "1088" value in the file indicates the use of a double-density (2x) screen, which suggests that the device could have a screen 2176 pixels wide.

It is known that Apple uses logo files with custom resolutions within the system for different devices.

For example, for iPhone 13 and 14 models, the "apple-logo-2532" expression represents a 2532×1170 resolution. The resolution of the new file points to a screen structure close to the iPad mini.

MAY BE TESTED WITH IPAD MINI HARDWARE

The 8.3-inch iPad mini model has a resolution of 2266×1488. This strengthens claims that Apple may have tested its smart display project on iPad mini hardware.

The information that has emerged suggests that the device will come with a screen of approximately 7 to 8 inches. Previous reports also stated that the device would be launched with a 7-inch screen. In this case, even if the screen resolution is high, the pixel density may be lower than that of the iPad mini.
