Attention retirees! Your pension could be cut due to a coding error

Many individuals who retired under the EYT regulation and continued to work are facing salary deductions due to being reported to the Social Security Institution (SGK) with the wrong code.

According to a report by Okan Çalık from Sözcü, retirees who cannot make ends meet on their pensions and continue to work are facing significant grievances as their pensions are cut when premiums are deposited under the wrong code. As this situation has become an increasing problem recently, experts are warning retirees to ensure their premiums are deposited with the correct code.

If a retiree who has started working has their premiums paid under the correct code, the Social Security Institution (SGK) does not make any deductions and continues to pay the retiree's pension.

For this, it is important to note that the SGK requires premiums to be paid under two types of codes. If registration is carried out under code 01 for All Insurance Branches, it means that this person is an active employee.

In other words, this code means a non-retired employee. However, if the entry is made under the Social Security Support Premium code 02, the SSI understands that the person for whom this premium is paid is a retiree.

For this reason, a retired person must make their premium payments under code 02. If the premium payment is made under code 01, the pension is suspended. This situation has caused grievances for many people.

On the other hand, according to figures released by experts, there has been an increase in the number of retirees whose pensions have been cut recently due to these regulations implemented by the Social Security Institution (SGK).

For this reason, experts frequently warn retirees about paying premiums under the correct code, while also reminding them that this responsibility lies with the retirees themselves.

Retirees who need to check their premiums via the e-Devlet system from time to time may not even realize they have lost their pensions if they do not do so. Furthermore, experts state that such checks are essential to prevent this situation from leading to greater problems in the future.
