Attention those getting a driver's license... Published in the Official Gazette, the examination system has changed

The amended regulation regarding driving schools and driver's license examinations has been published in the Official Gazette.

With the regulation that came into effect in July 2024, changes were made in many areas, from course registrations to exam durations.

In the regulation prepared by the Ministry of National Education, steering training course exams will be conducted on 2 different routes determined by the national education directorates and approved according to the legislation.

Traffic Instructor Zakir Çelepkolu, who outlined the points that those obtaining a driver's license need to pay attention to under the new regulation, stated that the parallel parking stage will now be performed in an oval shape.

Speaking on the subject, Çelepkolu stated the following:

‘'While the exam duration was 35 minutes, it will now be implemented as 40 minutes. Previously, we had a fixed route, but there will now be two exam routes, and on the morning of the exam, the assigned commissions will draw lots, and the driver candidate will be tested on the route determined by the result of the draw. Regarding reverse parking, while previously there was one move to enter and park the vehicle and two moves for correction, with the change made, it is being extended by one more move, meaning a chance to make one additional move will be granted.''

Stating that a U-turn will be implemented with the new regulation, Çelepkolu used the following expressions:

"A U-turn point will be designated at a suitable location on the driving test routes, and candidates will perform their U-turns from there. The most important point, which we encounter in our region as well as in other provinces, is the 'joker' problem. What is the joker problem? It is someone else taking the exam in place of a student."

From now on, once a person comes to the driving school and registers, after they fill out the application form themselves, we will take their photo in a live environment at the driving school and upload it to the Ministry of National Education Information Systems, known as MEBBİS. In addition to this, we will also upload their biometric photo to the system.

In this way, the ministry will have prevented this to some extent. There will also be some initiatives aimed at people with disabilities. If the necessary equipment is provided for the vehicle that our disabled citizen has purchased, they may even be able to take the exam in their own vehicle.''
