Attention travelers: Liquid carry-on limits for flights have changed

The carry-on limit for liquid and gel products at airports across the European Union (EU) has been reduced.

Starting September 1, passengers traveling in Europe will have their liquid transport allowance reduced from 125 milliliters to 100 milliliters.

Passengers will be required to place these liquid and gel products into appropriate bottles and pack all items inside a transparent plastic bag with a maximum volume of 1 liter.

While medicines and liquid baby formula are exempt from the restrictions, the new rules will apply at all airports across the EU. 

Following the replacement of baggage screening devices at many airports across Europe, the EU's doubts regarding their reliability have led to a tightening of regulations. 

Unlike older models, the new devices allow for the screening of liquid products without removing them from carry-on luggage. 

The new rules are expected to remain in effect until the reliability of the devices is fully verified.
