Bad news for coffee lovers: Coffee prices at their highest level in 50 years!

Alarm bells are ringing for coffee, the world's most consumed beverage. Due to weather changes in Brazil, a leader in coffee production and export, the coffee market is experiencing its most expensive period in the last 50 years.

As the costs of coffee beans rise, experts have issued a warning that 'the rise will continue'.

The cost of Arabica beans reached nearly its highest level in 50 years this week, having increased by more than 18 percent this year. The price of Robusta beans has also risen.

It was stated that the reason for the rise in prices is weather changes in producing countries like Brazil.

FIRST DROUGHT, THEN HEAVY RAIN STRUCK

In Vietnam, the world's largest producer of the cheaper Robusta bean, coffee-growing regions suffered from drought throughout the season.

At the start of the harvest, heavy rain struck the region. This situation caused a decrease in Robusta production and led its price to approach that of Arabica.

COFFEE COMPANIES TURNED TO ARABICA

As a result, many coffee companies turned to higher-quality Arabica beans, increasing demand and consequently the price in this market as well.

Brazil, a major producer of Arabica beans, also experienced a long period of drought earlier this year, which raised concerns about supply from the country.

ONE OF THE MOST TRADED PRODUCTS IN THE WORLD

Coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world by volume after crude oil, and its popularity is steadily increasing. For example, consumption in China has more than doubled in the last decade.

Pricing analysts emphasized that they expect the upward trend in coffee prices to continue for some time.
