Bad news for Fenerbahçe from Medina: Transfer postponed to January
As Fenerbahçe completed its squad registration for the Europa League, it failed to reach a happy ending in the transfer of Cristian Medina, whom it had targeted for the number 8 position. It has emerged that the Boca side pointed Fenerbahçe toward January.
While Fenerbahçe is considering another number 8 transfer in addition to the Sofyan Amrabat signing, bad news has arrived regarding Cristian Medina, who was at the top of their list.
According to a report by Yağız Sabuncuoğlu from Sports Digitale, Boca stated, 'Let's talk in January,' as they could not find an alternative player to replace Medina.
Sabuncuoğlu stated, "Fenerbahçe could finalize transfers for January right now, or if there is a surprise during this period, a transfer could take place."
Even if Fenerbahçe completes the Medina transfer, they will not be able to add him to their Europa League squad list.
Fans, who believe the midfield transfer is not enough and are waiting for a number 8 signing, want the club to acquire a number 8 even if the Medina transfer does not materialize.
Boca had announced that they were expecting a 15 million euro transfer fee and a 25 percent federation payment for the 22-year-old midfielder.
The player, who has a market value of 10 million, had pushed for all conditions to be met for Fenerbahçe.
