Bolu Mountain Tunnel, closed due to snowfall, reopened to traffic
The Istanbul-bound lanes of the TEM Highway at the Bolu Mountain pass, which were closed to traffic following a pile-up, have been reopened after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed. Snowfall continues to affect the region.
A pile-up occurred around 05:30 at the exit of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel on the TEM Highway in the direction of Istanbul.
A passenger bus traveling toward Istanbul collided with a semi-truck at the tunnel exit. In the region where snowfall was heavy, a car failed to stop and crashed into the vehicles. Three people were injured in the accident. Transportation in the direction of Istanbul was closed due to the crash.
Drivers were diverted to the D-100 Highway from the Abant Toll Booths and the entrance of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel.
BOLU TUNNEL REOPENED TO TRAFFIC
After approximately 1.5 hours of work, the vehicles were removed from the scene. The Istanbul-bound direction of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel pass has been reopened to traffic.
Drivers are being warned via illuminated signs in the region where snowfall continues. Due to the snowfall that has been effective without interruption since yesterday afternoon, the snow depth in green areas has exceeded 30 centimeters.
Highway crews are continuing snow clearing and salting operations in the area.
