New and striking allegations have emerged regarding famous football commentator Ahmet Çakar, whose name is mentioned in the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's betting investigation.
Türkiye newspaper columnist Cem Küçük stated that the suspicion of match-fixing, not betting, is coming to the fore in the file in question. Touching upon Ahmet Çakar's past activities related to betting, Küçük pointed out that the latest allegations are linked to match-fixing.
On the Medya Kritik program broadcast on TGRT Haber, Cem Küçük announced that he had obtained information regarding the match-fixing suspicion involving Ahmet Çakar. Küçük stated that he had spoken with Çakar's former lawyer, Esennur Ezgi, and that during this conversation, she said there was no allegation regarding betting, but rather a suspicion of match-fixing.
Cem Küçük said, "We know that Ahmet Çakar placed bets. During the time I worked at Beyaz TV, Çakar used to work with documents related to betting in his hand. However, this time the situation is different; match-fixing allegations are coming to the fore."
MATCH-FIXING ALLEGATION THROUGH ÇAKAR'S WIFE
Cem Küçük also included allegations that Ahmet Çakar's match-fixing activities were carried out through his wife. Küçük stated, "Ahmet Çakar's wife is the daughter of the owner of one of Turkey's biggest television brands in the 70s and 80s. She comes from a very wealthy family."
4 MILLION DOLLAR COMMISSION ALLEGATION
Cem Küçük brought another allegation regarding Ahmet Çakar to the agenda.
Küçük emphasized that the investigation is being conducted within a broad framework, saying, "There is an allegation that club presidents' relatives received a 4 million dollar commission from transfers. Furthermore, it is stated that bets were placed through the relatives of Mert Hakan Yandaş."
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued detention orders for some individuals as a result of the examinations conducted in the betting investigation. Detention procedures have been initiated for 7 people, including former Adana Demirspor President Murat Sancak, former football referee and football commentator Ahmet Çakar, Çakar's wife, and referee Zorbay Küçük.
Within the scope of the investigation, banking examinations conducted regarding suspicious financial transactions aim to bring the connections of these individuals to light.
