Change of venue for National Team match broadcasts: No longer to be aired on TRT

TRT, which broadcast the matches of the Turkish National Football Team up to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 this year, has transferred its rights for the new broadcasting period to the Saran Media Group, owned by Sadettin Saran, following the expiration of its contract.

The organization, which owns the S Sport channels, has become the official broadcaster of the Turkish National Football Team for UEFA organizations to be held between 2024 and 2028, following an agreement reached with UEFA.

Saran Holding had previously acquired the broadcasting rights for the UEFA Champions League and transferred them to third parties. Similarly, it is expected that negotiations will be held to sell the broadcasting rights for the National Team matches to TRT or another organization.

However, if an agreement cannot be reached, the S Sport channels, which operate as encrypted broadcasts under the Saran Group, could become the new home for the national matches.

According to the agreement reached with UEFA, Saran Media Group will broadcast the 2024/25 and 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, the 2025 and 2027 UEFA Nations League Finals, the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers and UEFA EURO 2028 European Qualifiers, International Friendly Matches, and the UEFA EURO 2028 tournament.

Making statements regarding the matter, Sadettin Saran said, "We are proud of our broadcasting partnership with UEFA. We are very happy to have acquired the broadcasting rights for our National Team's matches, all national matches, and the EURO 2028 tournament."

The Turkish National Team will play two matches each in September, October, and November 2024, and will play its first match in the group away against Wales on Friday, September 6.
