CHP leader Özgür Özel's harsh 'Israel' reaction to the government: 'They resorted to this rhetoric to collect 70 billion in taxes'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted sharply to the AKP's tax proposal at the Yırca Olive Festival held in Soma, Manisa.

Özel stated the following in his remarks:

'THEY WILL DEDUCT MONEY FROM ALL OF US'

Look, the proof of why Tayyip Erdoğan did this has now emerged. If we hadn't called for a closed session last week, those war movies would have continued to play on television. They couldn't provide any information in the closed session.

Don't be afraid, there is no war. It would have been easier for them if we didn't say, 'Get off that agenda, return to this country's real agenda: unemployment, poverty, and insecurity.' Now, they submitted a legislative proposal yesterday. They are going to deduct money from all of us for the Defense Industry Support Fund.

Abdullah Güler, the head of the AKP Group that submitted this legislative proposal, says, 'This law was introduced to strengthen our national security against the threat of Israel attacking Turkey.' What are we supposed to do?

We pay taxes every day, my dear headman; depending on the type of tax return we file, it seems we will all be paying an additional tax of between 308 liras and 604 liras to the Defense Industry Support Fund.

Declarations are submitted to the Social Security Institution, and they are submitted if someone is employed. We will have to pay a tax of 228 liras per declaration every time we submit one. For declarations submitted to customs administrations, 624 liras will be paid. 

Those with credit cards will pay a 750 lira tax if their limit is above a certain threshold. You are buying real estate, you are buying a house in a village; you will pay an additional 750 lira tax. Those buying new cars will pay 3 thousand lira. Those buying second-hand cars will pay 1 thousand 500 lira. 

For every type of tax return, customs declaration, and declaration submitted to the Social Security Institution (SGK), an additional stamp duty equal to the current amount will be charged. They are also reportedly going to collect additional taxes from those who purchase wristwatches. The same proposal includes a regulation on motor vehicle tax.

As you know, there was no Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) on motorcycles under 100 cubic centimeters or those with an engine power of 6 kW. For the smallest ones. Now, a motor vehicle tax has been introduced for these. Furthermore, 20 percent of these taxes will also be transferred to the defense industry.

So, what does this mean? Last week, they threw out the claim that 'Israel will attack.' They resorted to such rhetoric to collect 70 billion in taxes from all of us—from those buying homes, those buying cars, those paying taxes, those employing insured workers, and from every type of tax declaration.
