'Deception' fine for famous dairy brand's cheese!
It was determined that the product marketed as "tulum cheese" on the website of the famous dairy brand Yöre Süt was actually "processed cheese." It was decided that the company would be fined 550 thousand liras due to misleading advertising.
Inspections conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continue to reveal methods of fraud in milk and dairy products.
During an inspection carried out by the Maltepe District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, it was determined that a product marketed as "Yöre Sürmene Tulum Cheese" on the website of Yöre Süt Ürünleri, known as 'Peynirci Baba', was actually "Sürmene-style Processed Cheese."
PROMOTION FOUND 'MISLEADING'
In the evaluation made by the Advertising Board, it was stated that the product was misleading because it was not promoted correctly. As a result of the investigation, it was concluded that promoting the product as "tulum cheese" instead of "processed cheese" was in violation of the relevant laws.
ADMINISTRATIVE FINE FOR THE COMPANY
It was decided to impose an administrative fine of 550 thousand 59 liras on the company on the grounds that it engaged in misleading and deceptive advertising for consumers. Furthermore, it was ruled that the relevant advertisements must be stopped.
