Defense of defendant who beat his wife nearly to death in the street revealed: Judge outraged
Yılmaz Akman, who beat Sude Naz A. nearly to death in the middle of the street, claimed in court that he was 'intoxicated'.
Yılmaz Akman, who was arrested after brutally beating his 19-year-old pregnant partner, Sude Naz A., with whom he lived in a religious marriage, in the middle of the street in Akhisar, Manisa, has appeared in court, where he faces up to 6.5 years in prison.
In his defense, Akman stated that he committed the act under the influence of alcohol and said, "I am remorseful." Upon this, the presiding judge stated that the act was committed consciously and that one cannot hide behind the excuse of alcohol.
Following the hearing of the parties, the presiding judge ruled that the defendant Akman shall remain in custody, ordered the hearing of other witnesses and the awaiting of the report from the Council of Forensic Medicine, and adjourned the trial to October 18.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The incident took place on August 16 on Şehit Teğmen Tahir Ün Street, located in the Paşa neighborhood of the Akhisar district.
Yılmaz Akman suddenly began beating Sude Naz A., who was 5.5 weeks pregnant and with whom he lived in a religious marriage, in the middle of the street after failing to convince her to go to the village.
Akman knocked Sude Naz A. to the ground with punches.
Akman continued to punch Sude Naz A. in the head while she was on the ground, and then struck her with a metal brush handle he had grabbed.
While the couple's 3-year-old son witnessed those moments, bystanders watched Akman's violence without reacting for a long time.
