Experts confirm: "Broken heart syndrome" can lead to death!
Experts have warned that a broken heart can lead to death! Cardiology Specialist Dr. İsmail Erdoğu stated that 'broken heart syndrome,' which occurs due to stress, can cause sudden death as a result of sudden narrowing and blockage in the heart vessels.
Triggered by intense sorrow, broken heart syndrome (takotsubo cardiomyopathy) can manifest with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, and fainting, especially during periods of intense emotional stress.
SHOWS SYMPTOMS SIMILAR TO A HEART ATTACK
It emerges with weakening and ballooning of the heart muscle following severe trauma such as sorrow, stress, and shock. While broken heart syndrome shows symptoms similar to a heart attack, it can lead to death if left untreated.
Providing information on the subject, Cardiology Specialist Dr. İsmail Erdoğu stated that in untreated patients, heart failure can become permanent and lead to sudden deaths, adding that even in individuals without heart disease, a heart attack can develop after sudden sorrow, loss, or physical violence.
CAN CAUSE SUDDEN DEATHS
Stating that the likelihood of this disease occurring in women is higher than in men, Erdoğu said, "Humans are emotional beings. They have a structure whose health can improve with happiness, peace, and love. Restlessness and unhappiness are among the factors that shorten human life.
Even in individuals without heart disease, a heart attack can develop after sudden sorrow, the loss of loved ones, or physical violence. Such crises are usually not caused by a blockage in the vessel, but by a temporary narrowing. As a result of the narrowing, a ballooning occurs in the heart, and unexpected sudden deaths can occur during this process.
CHEST PAINS SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY
The stress, sorrow, and anxiety a person experiences can trigger this condition. In such situations, patients who feel chest pain must apply to a hospital without wasting time," he said.
Stating that chest pains that occur during stress or sorrow should be paid attention to, Erdoğu said, "By hospitalizing the patient and correcting the rhythm disorder with appropriate treatment methods, the disease can be brought under control before a permanent impairment occurs.
MORE FREQUENT IN WOMEN
However, in untreated patients, heart failure can become permanent and sudden deaths can occur. Therefore, chest pains that occur during stress or sorrow should be paid attention to.
The probability of this disease occurring in women is higher than in men. The reason this disease is seen more frequently in women is the hormonal changes that occur especially after the menopause period and the high level of emotionality associated with it.
'LOVE HEALS'
During periods of intense stress, blood pressure and rhythm disorders are seen more frequently in women.
Love is an emotion that is good for everyone. It is an easily accessible and mutual act for both patients and healthy individuals. Love heals," he stated.
