WHO IS SUNA SELEN?

Istanbul State Theater actor Suna Selen was born on July 1, 1939. Her father was the lawyer Hüsamettin Selen, and her mother was Nimet Selen, the daughter of Fatma Aliye Hanım and granddaughter of the famous jurist Ahmet Cevdet Paşa.

She completed her high school education at Beşiktaş Atatürk High School. Throughout her high school years, she also attended the Theater Department of the Beşiktaş Municipal Conservatory.

In 1956, she began studying law at her family's request. At the same time, she worked at the Dormen Theater. A year later, she left her law studies to begin painting studies at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1957, she married her first husband, the painter Cem Kabaağaç, nephew of Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı; she had one son from this marriage.
