Great demand for Turkish TV series from abroad: Episode fees are sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars

The deepening economic crisis in Turkey has also hit television series. Due to budget constraints, for the first time in many years, no summer series were filmed this year, and it has been suggested that the number of series in the new season may also decrease.

Producer Saner Ayar, owner of O3 Medya, one of the most prominent production companies of recent years, made statements regarding the television series industry.

Pointing to the size of the international market for TV series, Ayar spoke as follows in an interview given to Birsen Altuntaş's YouTube channel:

"When you produce a series that can be sold abroad, you have an income of between 200 thousand dollars and 600-650 thousand dollars per episode. 50 percent of this income goes to the channel. When you look at it, it is pure profit...

When you produce series in that sense, the motivation of channels to produce series with the goal of generating international revenue will always continue. In this process, I think this will never decrease, so I do not see a risk there either."

"On the other hand, the main issue is this: in Turkey, there will be no elections for the next four years, or three and a half years, unless there is an early election. This is also a positive situation for the Turkish economy...

I don't think television channels will take a step back in terms of the number of series they produce in this sense. Now, I am sure new actors, new televisions will be made... Let them come and see..."
