Greek Prime Minister speaks on earthquakes in the Aegean Sea

A statement regarding the seismic activity that has been continuing for days in the Aegean Sea also came from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Mitsotakis answered questions from members of the press before the European Union's (EU) first summit on defense in Brussels.

Stating that Greece is facing an intense geological event, Mitsotakis said, "I ask our island residents, first and foremost, to remain calm and to follow the instructions of the Civil Protection units."

The most intense warnings regarding the earthquakes were issued for the island of Santorini. While many people left the island, it was announced that the 30-kilometer fault line in Santorini had become active.

EARTHQUAKES IN THE AEGEAN SEA

As a precautionary measure, it was decided to suspend education for one day in schools on 4 islands, including Santorini, cultural events were canceled, and the public was asked to avoid gathering in closed spaces.

Search and rescue teams and unmanned aerial vehicles were dispatched to Santorini as a precaution, and tents were set up on the island for search and rescue teams.

On the other hand, it was requested that pools be emptied so as not to damage structures in the event of a possible earthquake.
