He brutally took the life of his wife of 3 months: The suspect's statements have emerged!

A brutal murder in the Kepez district of Antalya has deeply shaken Turkey. Halit Can Sakman (26), who worked as a nurse at a private hospital, first stabbed his wife of 3 months, Sevcan Demir Sakman (26), who was also a nurse, and then ended her life by slitting her throat with a meat cleaver he grabbed. The suspect, who was taken to the hospital with injuries after the incident, claimed in his statement to the police that he had a fit of jealousy.

The horrific incident occurred on the evening of March 9, around 22:30, in an apartment on 6579 Street in the Gazi neighborhood of Kepez district. Halit Can and Sevcan Demir Sakman, who got married 3 months ago, argued in the morning due to financial problems. The argument, which flared up again between Halit Can Sakman and his wife when he returned home in the evening, soon turned into a fight.

Allegedly, Sakman thought his wife Sevcan did not like him and compared him to other men. The suspect, stating that he had a fit of jealousy, claimed that his wife attacked him with a knife and went to the kitchen. However, he attacked Sevcan with a knife he grabbed there. The blood-chilling incident did not end there; the suspect then slit his wife's throat with a meat cleaver he grabbed.

REVEALED BY NEIGHBORS' REPORTS

Following reports made by neighbors who heard the sounds of fighting and screaming to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The police teams who entered the house found Sevcan Demir Sakman motionless on the floor, covered in blood. Checks by medical teams determined that the young nurse had deep cuts on her wrists, abdomen, and throat, and had lost her life due to excessive blood loss.

Sevcan Demir Sakman's lifeless body was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy. While her relatives experienced great shock and grief, Sevcan's funeral was laid to rest in her hometown of İskenderun, Hatay, after the procedures.

Halit Can Sakman, who had cuts on his throat and hands, was taken to Antalya City Hospital by medical teams. Police teams found two knives at the scene, one with a broken handle. After his treatment at the hospital was completed, Sakman was taken to the police station and was referred to the courthouse after his interrogation there.

CLAIMED HE HAD A FIT OF JEALOUSY

Claiming in his statement to the police that he had a fit of jealousy, the suspect said that they argued with his wife from time to time due to financial problems. Explaining that they argued again with his wife on the day of the incident, Sakman said, "My wife didn't like me, she compared me to other men. When she attacked me with a knife, I went to the kitchen. I don't remember what I grabbed at that moment, but I retaliated to defend myself."

Halit Can Sakman, who was referred to the court by the prosecutor's office on charges of "intentional killing of a spouse," was arrested by the judicial authorities. However, he was placed in a prison ward for his treatment to be completed due to the cut on his throat. It was learned that the suspect will be transferred to prison after his health condition improves.

REVEALED THAT HE HAD BEEN RECEIVING PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENT

On the other hand, it emerged that Halit Can Sakman had been diagnosed with a personality disorder some time ago, had been receiving psychological treatment, and was using medication.
