He said a trustee would be appointed to the CHP: Indictment prepared against ROK

The indictment prepared against journalist Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information" has been shared with the public.

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was requested that Kütahyalı be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 1 to 3 years.

HE HAD BEEN DETAINED

Kütahyalı was detained in Bolu due to his social media posts claiming that "a trustee could be appointed to the CHP" and that "operations would be carried out against the Keçiören and Etimesgut municipalities in Ankara." Kütahyalı, who was detained as part of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was released with a travel ban and judicial control conditions.

EMPHASIS ON "JOURNALISTIC PASSION" IN HIS STATEMENT

Giving his statement to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office via SEGBİS from the Bolu Courthouse, Kütahyalı claimed that he made the post out of "journalistic excitement." Kütahyalı said, "I made this post with the passion and excitement brought by my journalistic profession, following the intensification of claims also voiced by my journalist colleagues. I am very sad and regretful about the perception that has emerged."

CLAIMED HE DID NOT RECEIVE THE INFORMATION FROM A PUBLIC OFFICIAL

Kütahyalı argued that he did not obtain the information he used in the post from any public official, but rather from certain sources within the CHP and his own personal observations. He stated that the source of the claims was a former CHP executive and a retired security bureaucrat accompanying him.

"ACTED WITHOUT THINKING"

Linking the police deployments to Ankara with operations to be carried out against the Keçiören and Etimesgut municipalities, Kütahyalı stated that he acted with the motivation of "being the first journalist to break the news." He said, "Since it was a matter concerning the judiciary, I tried not to express a definitive opinion; I specifically used the expression 'I suppose'."

"I DID NOT GAIN ANY PROFIT"

Kütahyalı stated that he had no intention of profiting from any stock market or financial transaction through his post and that he did not provide advice or guidance to anyone.
