Holiday traffic congestion: Main roads in Istanbul are practically gridlocked!
Traffic congestion has increased in certain parts of Istanbul due to the public holiday that began in the afternoon for the October 29 Republic Day.
On the European side, traffic on the D-100 highway begins at the Florya location and continues as far as Bahçelievler.
Traffic, which intensifies at the Cevizlibağ location of the highway, is moving slowly in the direction of the Haliç Bridge, Mecidiyeköy, and the 15 July Martyrs Bridge.
While two-way traffic congestion has formed at the Mahmutbey toll booths on the TEM Highway, traffic is moving slowly in some places in both directions on the Basın Ekspres Road.
Additionally, traffic starting from the Küçükköy location of the highway has come to a standstill in some places in the direction of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.
Traffic is moving slowly on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, which provides passage from the Anatolian side to the European side.
Traffic is also moving slowly on the D-100 highway at the Kartal, Maltepe, and Kadıköy locations.
Furthermore, traffic congestion has formed on the TEM Highway from Ümraniye towards the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, from Ataşehir towards Dudullu, and at the Samandıra location.
According to data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Pocket Traffic Map, traffic across the city reached 71 percent during the noon hours, while it was measured at 65 percent on the European side and 78 percent on the Anatolian side.
