Hafize Gaye Erkan, the first female governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), resigned from her post yesterday evening (February 2) by requesting to be relieved of her duties. Fatih Karahan has been appointed as the new head of the TCMB to replace Erkan. Newspapers featured the high-level change at the Central Bank on their front pages.
