Injunction placed on Ferdi Tayfur's estate! The latest on the inheritance dispute...
Following the passing of master artist Ferdi Tayfur, discussions regarding his estate continue to dominate the agenda. His daughter, Tuğçe Tayfur, who learned that she was not mentioned in the will, announced that an injunction has been placed on the estate by court order.
Ferdi Tayfur, one of the unforgettable names in Turkish music, passed away on January 2, 2025, due to liver and kidney failure.
The artist, who was laid to rest following a funeral ceremony held on January 4, left his fans in deep sorrow. However, developments regarding Tayfur's will and estate have sparked a major dispute within his family.
WILL DISCLOSED
Şirin Gözalıcı, who was both Ferdi Tayfur's niece and press consultant, shared the master artist's will with the public. In the statement made by Gözalıcı, it was announced that a portion of Tayfur's assets had been donated to the Turkish Armed Forces, the Darüşşafaka Foundation, and LÖSEV. The statement made on behalf of the family noted that Tayfur's love and devotion to his people were once again highlighted by this will.
However, it was noted that Tuğçe Tayfur's name was absent from the disclosed will. Reacting to being excluded from her father's estate, Tayfur stated that she would take the process to court, declaring, "I will not let this matter go."
COURT ISSUES INJUNCTION
Following these developments, Tuğçe Tayfur and her brother Timur Turanbayburt applied to the court to have an injunction placed on the entire estate and for a trustee to be appointed.
As the process continues, it has been announced that the court has placed an injunction on all of Ferdi Tayfur's intellectual and industrial property rights.
Announcing the decision on her social media account, Tuğçe Tayfur stated, "From now on, no one will be able to derive commercial gain from my father's songs. This is just the beginning. I believe that justice will be served sooner or later."
SURNAME CRISIS DEEPENS
On the other hand, it was known that while Ferdi Tayfur was alive, he had filed a criminal complaint opposing his daughter's use of the "Tayfur" surname for commercial purposes.
It was alleged that the artist had demanded 50 million Turkish Lira in compensation or requested that 58 percent of the revenues be transferred to him in order to prevent Tuğçe Tayfur from branding her name.
The controversy over the surname continued after her father's death. In a statement on her social media account, Tuğçe Tayfur claimed that Tuğba Dınız, the daughter of her father's legal wife Zeliha Tayfur, had given power of attorney to a lawyer to prevent the use of the surname in the "Tuğçe Tayfur Store" brand.
Reacting sharply to this situation, Tuğçe Tayfur said, "This power of attorney was given just three days after my father's passing. I understand you have no grief, the issue is purely emotional! I am not suffering, but at least I would have expected some empathy."
''MY FATHER'S SONGS WILL LIVE ON''
Tayfur stated that she would continue her efforts to keep her father's songs alive. Claiming that attempts were being made to block her album titled "My Father's Songs," the artist said, "No matter what you do, my father's songs will live on with me. We will keep his memory alive together with his fans."
COMMEMORATION CEREMONIES HELD
On the 40th day following Ferdi Tayfur's passing, commemoration ceremonies were held by his loved ones and family in Istanbul, Adana, and Marmaris. In a statement made after the memorial service, Tuğçe Tayfur reiterated that she would continue to follow the legal process, while her mother, Necla Nazır, put an end to the discussions by stating, "For us, this matter is closed."
