Viewers continue to watch the series, wondering whether Jamie is a killer or innocent.

Adolescence received great attention upon its release on Netflix. The series became the most-watched show on the platform worldwide. It also appeared on the list as the 2nd most-watched series in Turkey.

Is Adolescence a true story?

The story of Adolescence is not based on a single true event, but it is inspired by real-life occurrences. Stephen Graham, one of the creators of the series, describes the process of developing the script with these words:

“There was an incident where a young boy allegedly stabbed a girl. It shocked me. I thought, ‘What is going on? What is happening in a society where a boy stabs a girl to death? What is the inciting incident here?’ Then a similar event happened again. Then another, and another... I read similar news reports one after another. I wanted to shed light on this situation and ask, ‘Why is it like this today? What is happening? How did we get to this point?’”
