By law, schools and government offices will be on a half-day holiday on Monday, October 28, starting in the afternoon. Since Tuesday, October 29, is a full-day holiday, civil servants, bank employees, and students will have 1.5 days off.

OPPORTUNITY FOR EMPLOYEES TO TAKE 4 DAYS OFF

Employees who are able to use a half-day of 'annual leave' on Monday will have the opportunity to take a 4-day holiday if they use that half-day of leave.

CELEBRATED AS AN OFFICIAL HOLIDAY SINCE 1925

With a legislative proposal prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 2, 1925, it was proposed that October 29 be a holiday. On April 19, the proposal was accepted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). With the "Law on the Recognition of October 29, the Day of the Proclamation of the Republic, as a National Holiday," the celebration of Republic Day on October 29 became an official provision.
