Is the path to retirement opening for housewives?

The Ministry of Family and Social Services has prepared a comprehensive social security and retirement project for housewives as part of the "Family Protection Shield" package. With the project planned to be implemented within the framework of the "Year of the Family," housewives will be granted retirement rights in a systematic way for the first time.

EVERY HOUSEWIFE WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY

To benefit from the project, it will be sufficient to be 18 years of age or older and a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. Women who have not had any previous insurance registration will also be able to apply and benefit from the system.

ONE-THIRD OF THE PREMIUM FROM THE STATE

The most notable point in the project is the state support. According to the report by Onur Aksoy from NTV, one-third of the payments of housewives who will deposit premiums through the optional insurance system will be covered directly by the state.

Thanks to this support, the public contribution during the 15-year payment process required for retirement will total approximately 500 thousand liras under current conditions.

HOW WILL THE SYSTEM WORK?

Housewives who apply will be included in the system as optional insured persons under Bağ-Kur. They will be able to make premium payments regularly every month via the internet.

With this model, where they are accepted as individuals who work for themselves, women will be entitled to retirement just like insured employees.

EARLY RETIREMENT BASED ON WEAR-AND-TEAR ALLOWANCE AND NUMBER OF CHILDREN

The project also includes some special advantages for mothers with children. A "wear-and-tear allowance" practice that includes flexibility according to the number of children will be put into effect. With this practice, mothers will be offered the opportunity to retire at an earlier age.
