İsmail Saymaz: Ekrem İmamoğlu is the target
Journalist İsmail Saymaz made assessments regarding the arrest of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat. Saymaz stated, "Those who dug a tunnel from Esenyurt to Saraçhane are now launching a submarine from Beşiktaş toward the same target."
An arrest warrant has been issued for Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.
A notable assessment on the matter came from Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz.
Regarding the arrest of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, Saymaz wrote about the trustee process that began with the Esenyurt Municipality in his column today.
Journalist İsmail Saymaz said in his column today, “Ekrem İmamoğlu is the target.”
As part of an investigation into allegations that a criminal organization, allegedly led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, organized tenders in Istanbul by bribing mayors and senior municipal officials, 40 suspects, including Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and Aziz İhsan Aktaş, were detained. Following their processing at the police station, 23 people, including Mayor Rıza Akpolat and Aziz İhsan Aktaş, were arrested after being referred to the courthouse, while 17 people were released under judicial control.
In his article, where he points to the inconsistencies and gaps in the accusations directed at Akpolat, Saymaz stated the following:
“Ekrem İmamoğlu is the target. Those who dug tunnels from Esenyurt to Saraçhane are now sailing submarines from Beşiktaş to the same target. Esenyurt and Beşiktaş are merely a stepping stone and a pretext to reach and touch İmamoğlu. They are in prison today not because they are guilty, but because they are seen as the weakest links in the circle. A judicial coup process is being implemented that will portray İmamoğlu as being linked to the PKK and accuse him of bribery and corruption. They want to appoint a trustee to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, bring down the CHP's future presidential candidate, and remove the opposition as a governing option.”
