Kalyon submits lowest bid for metro line
The Kalyon and Özgün Yapı partnership, known for its proximity to the government, submitted the lowest bid for the Kirazlı-Halkalı Metro Construction project, which was first tendered in 2017 and cancelled multiple times. If the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Tender Commission approves, the project will proceed with this partnership.
The Kirazlı-Halkalı Metro Construction, first tendered by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) in 2017, has been re-tendered after being cancelled multiple times and taken to court.
The Kalyon and Özgün Yapı partnership, known for its proximity to the government, emerged as one of the leading firms to secure the project after submitting the lowest bid of 21 billion 982 million 861 thousand liras.
If the İBB Tender Commission deems it appropriate, the tender will be awarded to this partnership.
The first tender for the Kirazlı-Halkalı Metro Line was held on March 3, 2017, and was won by the Kalyon-Astur-Makyol-IC İçtaş consortium with a bid of 2 billion 414 million 401 thousand liras.
However, the metro construction was halted in December 2017, with progress on the line remaining at only 4 percent.
The construction process stopped after the contractor firms exercised their right to unilateral termination in accordance with a Presidential Decree, after which the termination process for the metro line began.
A new tender was organized in 2024, and the tender on April 5 resulted in a figure of 8 billion liras. Now, the Kalyon and Özgün Yapı partnership, which submitted the lowest bid, is expected to take over the construction of the metro line.
