Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir released under judicial control
Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was ordered to be released under judicial control with a travel ban in the case where he is being tried for "mediating bribery," has been released from the prison in Tekirdağ.
Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir wassubject to an investigation in 2021 over allegations that he mediated bribery and profited from the process regarding the release of two individuals who were in custody in a case, as well as the lifting of judicial control measures applied in the form of house arrest.Anindictment prepared within the scope of the investigationdemanded that Epözdemir be sentenced to between 4 and 12 years in prison for the crime of "mediating bribery," and the Istanbul 18th High Criminal Court accepted the indictment.
Because former prosecutor CengizÇ. was alsoa defendant in the file,the trial wasconsolidated at the Court of Cassation. Within the scope of the case heard at the 5th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation,
it was decided that Rezan Ep özdemir be releasedunder the judicial control condition of a travel ban.Rezan Epözdemir, whoseprocedures were completed at theKaratepe High-Security Penal Execution Institutionin the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ, has been released from prison.
