'PASSENGERS WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE THE LOCATION OF THEIR LUGGAGE WITH OUR TEAMS'

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, commented on how the integration with Apple can be utilized.

"As Turkish Airlines, we are pleased to announce that we have entered into a collaboration with Apple to improve our baggage tracking system. With the release of iOS 18.2, our passengers will now be able to share the location information of their luggage—equipped with AirTag or Find My-supported devices—with our relevant teams in the event of any disruption," he stated.

Bolat continued his remarks as follows:

"Thanks to this innovation, we aim to locate your luggage quickly and deliver it to you, increasing our operational efficiency while maximizing your satisfaction."

WHAT IS AIRTAG AND HOW IS IT USED?

Apple released the iOS 18.2 update on December 11, 2024. This update included significant innovations and improvements, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.

The tech giant's AirTag product is a small, round Bluetooth tracking device. It is designed to help easily locate personal items prone to being lost (such as keys, bags, or wallets). AirTag works by integrating into Apple's ecosystem via the Find My application.

HOW WILL IT BE INTEGRATED WITH THY?

Bolat stated that Apple users who wish to take precautions against losing their luggage should create a "Share Item Location" link in the Find My app and share this link via the Turkish Airlines baggage tracking form. This will allow passengers to ensure their luggage is found more easily in the event of an issue.

It is noted that the shared location information will be stored securely and will automatically expire after seven days. Users will also be able to manually disable the link after their flight.

"Very soon, you will also be able to use this same feature through our mobile application," said Bolat, adding: "As Turkish Airlines, we are committed to using technology to enhance your travel experience. We will continue our efforts to ensure you have a better travel experience together."
