Touching upon the Beşiktaş fans, the 51-year-old manager noted the following:
"Our fans are very important. We were talking about this with our board of directors. They are incredibly passionate. There is a restaurant where my children live in Norway. I have many Turkish friends there. They constantly talked to me about the fans. Arild Stavrum is my childhood friend; he played for Beşiktaş before. Ronny Johnsen did too. They told me about the fans here and explained that they want to see a team worthy of Beşiktaş. They are truly wonderful. Real football fans. Amazing supporters who back their team with all their hearts and never, ever stop supporting."
