The General Directorate of Meteorology, under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, has released meteorological data for the year 2024. According to the assessment made with data from 2,059 observation stations across Turkey, the records set in weather parameters such as temperature, precipitation, wind, and snow depth in 2024 are as follows:
TEMPERATURE RECORD: 47.8 DEGREES...
Turkey's highest temperature value was recorded on June 20 in the Ceylanpınar district of Şanlıurfa. The hottest day of the year was experienced with 47.8 degrees. In the province of Aydın, the highest temperature was measured at 44.6 degrees on June 12.
THE COLDEST DAY WAS ON FEBRUARY 29...
The coldest day of 2024 was observed on February 29 in the Göle district of Ardahan. In Göle, the temperature dropped to -34.3 degrees. In other provinces, the lowest temperature was recorded at -31.3 degrees.
PRECIPITATION RECORD IN ANTALYA
The highest daily precipitation was measured on February 13 in the Kepez district of Antalya. 297.7 kilograms of precipitation fell per square meter. In the Antalya city center, 233.9 kilograms of precipitation was recorded. Antalya was the province that received the most precipitation throughout 2024.
SNOW DEPTH RECORD: 247 CENTIMETERS
The 247-centimeter snow depth measured at Karabet Pass in the Bahçesaray district of Van on March 6 was recorded as the highest snow depth for 2024. In the Bitlis city center, the highest snow depth was measured at 132 centimeters on January 30.
WIND SPEED RECORD IN TRABZON
The place where the highest wind speed was measured was Yoroz in the Çarşıbaşı district of Trabzon on December 28. Here, the wind blew at a speed of 153.4 kilometers per hour. In the Konya city center, the highest wind speed was recorded at 88.9 kilometers per hour on November 24.
WHICH CITIES HOLD THE SEA WATER TEMPERATURE RECORDS?
In 2024, the highest value in sea water temperatures was recorded at 32.9 degrees on August 15 in the Karataş district of Adana. The lowest sea water temperature was measured at 7 degrees in Marmara Ereğlisi on January 22.
