Millions of minimum wage earners are waiting for this decision: How much will the raise rate be?

There are only 3.5 months left until the new minimum wage increase. According to the projections in the Medium-Term Program (OVP), the year-end inflation rate is forecast at 41.5 percent.

According to this forecast, the amount of the upcoming minimum wage increase is already a subject of curiosity.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously emphasized in his statements that employees would not be crushed by inflation.

Following these statements, all eyes have turned to the determination of the minimum wage. While the government provides raises to civil servants and retirees every 6 months, an annual increase regulation is applied to the minimum wage.

Social Security Consultant Emin Yılmaz stated, based on the Medium-Term Program, that the raise rate for the minimum wage will not remain below inflation.

Yılmaz stated, "An increase of between 45-50 percent is expected for the minimum wage as of the end of the year." In this scenario, the minimum wage is estimated to be in the range of 24,500 TL to 25,000 TL.

Furthermore, while the target is to reduce inflation to 17.5 percent in 2025, it is projected that the minimum wage increase to be implemented by the end of 2024 could be the highest rate for this period.

Whether a welfare share will be on the agenda to protect employees against inflation will become clear in the coming period.

Economists are closely monitoring the rate of the government's year-end salary adjustments, emphasizing that measures taken to combat inflation will also be influential in determining the increase.
