Minibus crisis from the Palace's former favorite: Fahrettin Altun couldn't fit into his new seat

Fahrettin Altun, seen as one of the most powerful figures of the AKP government, has been removed from his long-held position as the Presidential Director of Communications.

Removed from his "favorite seat" at the Palace, Altun was appointed as the President of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey (TİHEK).

DEBATE OVER DEMOTION

This change in duty for Altun was interpreted in political backchannels as a "demotion." In particular, it was noted that during the controversial Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation conducted in recent weeks, he confirmed certain documents in favor of the CHP through his lawyer.

According to Nefes columnist Nuray Babacan, Altun is having difficulty adjusting to the TİHEK building in the Bakanlıklar district after the magnificent 25-story Directorate of Communications building.

It was alleged that Altun, finding the institution's resources insufficient, made various attempts to address the shortcomings.

According to Babacan's article, it was learned that Altun most recently requested 15 minibuses from the relevant ministries, but this request was rejected.
