Much-discussed Ekrem İmamoğlu scoop from Fatih Altaylı: İmamoğlu will push the button on that date!

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu delivered a notable speech during the October 29 Republic Day celebrations. 

In his speech, İmamoğlu stated, "We are on the threshold of a new historical turning point. They have caused enough damage; their era is over, and it is time to get rid of the actors of the old era. We must leave this period full of zigzags behind and clear away the rubble." 

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, in his YouTube broadcast today, commented on the claims that "Ekrem İmamoğlu has declared his candidacy." 

Altaylı remarked, "It was more like a presidential candidate's speech than a Republic Day celebration. He talked about protecting the regime, governing the country, and leaving it to the youth. This was not a 101st-anniversary speech, but rather a pre-manifesto.  There were politically heavy emphases in Ekrem Bey's speech. You can feel that Ekrem İmamoğlu is actually preparing for something else," and continued as follows:

'HE MAY HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED'

"There were reports in some places that Ekrem İmamoğlu made a call to the judiciary, saying, 'Announce the verdict regarding me.' I don't know if he actually said this or not. While saying this, Ekrem İmamoğlu may have been influenced by the rumors that have reached all of our ears."

'BUREAUCRACIES HAVE A SENSE OF SMELL'

Recalling the Ankara rumors regarding a swift verdict in the case, Altaylı said, "This has been heard by Ekrem İmamoğlu just as it has been heard by us. Because bureaucracies have a sense of smell. Especially in Turkey, there is a tradition of bureaucracy, and it has the sharpest sense of smell for power. It senses the weaknesses of power in the same way."

'LIKE A MANIFESTO'

Altaylı continued his words:

"In the bureaucracy, there is a state of mind toward Erdoğan that is not as enthusiastic as it used to be. These days, there is a 'let me just follow the laws and not get into trouble' situation. Things are not at the 'say the word and we will strike' point as they once were."

It will come out of the appellate court and go to the Court of Cassation. The possibility of justice being served is higher at the Court of Cassation. As I understand it, Ekrem İmamoğlu wants to accelerate this process as well. Ekrem Bey's speech is like a manifesto. 

'İMAMOĞLU IS WAITING FOR MAY 2025'

The information that has reached my ears is that Ekrem Bey is waiting for May 2025, and figures close to Ekrem İmamoğlu within the CHP know that he will take action at the end of May. 

"Ekrem İmamoğlu said, 'I will make my move.' Why does politics love Erdoğan? Because he makes moves. If this is supported by an expert staff in politics, it can yield good results. İmamoğlu sees that the time for making a move is approaching.

It is highly likely that we will see İmamoğlu more as a candidate in politics."
