New AI-powered browser from Opera: Opera introduces 'Neon'!

In a press release issued by Opera, it was stated that Neon was developed as an "agent-based browser."

Henrik Lexow, Senior Product Director of AI at Opera, stated, "We are at a point where AI can fundamentally change the way we use the internet. Opera Neon brings this to our users' fingertips."

VERSATILE AI-POWERED EXPERIENCE

Opera reported that Neon is not limited to content generation; it can produce different outputs such as games, reports, code snippets, and websites.

Furthermore, the browser can continue to work on multiple tasks even when the user is offline.

Neon comes with a chatbot interface that allows users to search, answer questions, and retrieve contextual information from open web pages. These features are reminiscent of AI tools such as Microsoft's Copilot and OpenAI's Operator.

AUTOMATES ROUTINE TASKS

The new browser also includes the AI agent named "Browser Operator," which Opera announced last March.

Thanks to this tool, users can automate routine tasks such as shopping, filling out online forms, and making event or accommodation reservations.

Opera emphasizes that all these operations take place locally within the browser and that privacy and security are prioritized.

NEW VISION, NEW EXPERIENCE!

The name Neon previously came to the fore with an experimental browser that Opera released in 2017. However, the company states that the new version has a completely different vision than the experiment in the past.

The 2017 version did not receive the expected attention because it was not sufficiently developed.

WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE?

Opera did not share any information regarding when Neon will be released or what its price will be. However, it was stated that the browser will be offered with a premium subscription model.

For now, users do not have the chance to test the experience that Neon promises.
