New alliance signal from Fatih Erbakan: He even named the parties... 'It is no longer possible with the People's Alliance'
New Welfare Party leader Fatih Erbakan pointed to his party's growth momentum and stated that they are open to a new alliance. Erbakan completely closed the doors to the People's Alliance.
Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made notable statements before his party's provincial chairs meeting. Touching upon economic developments on Turkey's agenda as well as possible political alliance scenarios, Erbakan emphasized once again that they have completely parted ways with the People's Alliance.
Fatih Erbakan opened the door to new alliances. Stating that there is a possibility of an alliance for parliamentary elections, Erbakan said, "An alliance could be formed with the Future Party, the IYI Party, and the Felicity Party." However, he added that no meetings have been held with these parties so far.
"IT IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE WITH THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE"
Erbakan also responded to a question about whether there is any contact with dissatisfied segments within the AK Party and the New Path Group formed by the DEVA, Future, and Felicity parties. Stating, "Our doors are open to everyone who wants to come to us," Erbakan emphasized that the Yeniden Refah Party is Turkey's fastest-growing party.
"We are a party that upholds the National View (Milli Görüş) legacy. In terms of membership numbers and vote share, we are one of Turkey's three largest parties," Erbakan said, noting that their decision regarding a presidential candidacy is final. "We are stating clearly that it is no longer possible with the People's Alliance," he said.
YENIDEN REFAH IS READY FOR PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS
Arguing that his party has no issues regarding the election threshold, Erbakan said, "In the 2024 local elections, we reached 7 percent with 520 thousand votes. Today, we have 650 thousand members. This shows that we do not have a threshold problem."
However, stating that they could still take part in an alliance for parliamentary elections to enter the race more strongly, Erbakan said, "It could be the Future Party, it could be the IYI Party, it could be the Felicity Party. We have the possibility of an alliance with these parties. However, there have been no meetings held in this direction so far."
NO STEPPING BACK ON PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY
Fatih Erbakan reiterated their determination regarding the presidential candidacy, saying there would be no stepping back. "We have announced our candidacy and there will be no turning back from this. As the YRP, we will offer the strongest possible alternative to our nation during this process," he said.
