New 'mawlid' crisis emerges in Ferdi Tayfur's family: Prayers to be held in two different mosques

Following the death of master arabesque musician Ferdi Tayfur on January 2, the tensions among family members were brought to light.

Most recently, after the tension regarding the famous singer's will, family members have now come face-to-face over the '40th-day memorial prayer' (40 mevlidi). While the famous singer's daughter, Tuğçe Tayfur, announced that she would hold prayers at the Eyüp Sultan Mosque, his niece, Şirin Gözalıcı, invited the artist's fans to prayers at the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque.

TWO DIFFERENT MEVLITS IN TWO DIFFERENT MOSQUES

In a statement on her social media account, Şirin Gözalıcı said, "A mevlit will be held for the 40th day of the passing of our family's pillar, Mr. Ferdi Tayfur, whom we lost on January 2, 2025, on Wednesday, February 12, at 18:00 at the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque. This is announced to all our friends and loved ones."

Tuğçe Tayfur, who lashed out on social media after the reading of the famous singer's will and said, "I will not let this matter go," announced on her social media account that a 40th-day memorial prayer for her father would be held at the Eyüp Sultan Mosque:

"On the 40th day of our late father's passing, the Mevlid-i Şerif will be read on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 19:00 at the Eyüp Sultan Mosque. This is announced to all his loved ones and friends. The Ferdi Tayfur Family..."
